A maple bowl with nice figure from a tree that was removed from a yard in Irvine. The tree was diseased and much of the wood turned out unusable but this small piece is probably the best that came from it.

When it came time for a neighbor to remove his olive tree an e-mail arrived asking if I wanted some. The answer is almost always yes to olive. A delightful wood to turn and the heartwood emits a wonderful aroma of virgin olive oil that fills the shop.

Natural Edged Bowl

This is a simple bowl, intended to show off the beautiful wood. It is an Australian wood and, being a burl, often has natural cracks and fissures from the stresses involved from trying to grow many different directions all at once.

Oak "Potato Chip" Bowls

These are small oak bowls, the largest about five inches across, and are very thin, similar to a potato chip, hence the name.
